Madeira Beach Parking: Lots, Rates and Walkovers
Madeira Beach hides its best feature in plain sight. Most visitors funnel into the two obvious spots — Archibald Beach Park and John's Pass — and never notice that Madeira Beach parking includes more than a dozen public access points strung along Gulf Boulevard, each one a short wooden walkover between the buildings, over the dune, and onto the same wide white sand.
Here's how the whole system works, including the part almost nobody uses.
What parking costs and how to pay
City parking is $4.00 per hour, a rate that took effect October 1, 2024.
The bigger thing to know is how you pay: Madeira Beach removed its parking kiosks and went app-only. At every municipal lot you pay through the ParkMobile app — enter the zone number posted on the nearby sign, pick your time, done. The only exception is Village Boulevard at John's Pass, which keeps two physical pay-to-park meters alongside the app option.
Download and set up ParkMobile before you drive out. Doing it in a hot car with one bar of signal while your family walks ahead is the standard Madeira Beach visitor experience, and it's avoidable. The city lists parking hours as 6 a.m. to midnight daily.
There is no free public beach parking in Madeira Beach. Vehicles with a valid Florida disabled plate or certain veteran plates (Purple Heart, Medal of Honor, Disabled Veteran and similar) park free by statute — everyone else pays.
Archibald Beach Park: the main event
Archibald Memorial Beach Park at 15100 Gulf Blvd is the biggest and best-equipped beach stop on the island: four wooden walkovers, restrooms, two outdoor shower areas, a covered picnic pavilion, two sand volleyball courts, and The Snack Shak for food. Parking sits directly by the beach, paid through ParkMobile like everywhere else.
Because it's the obvious choice, it's the first to fill. When it does, most drivers circle it. That's the mistake this post exists to fix.
Two blocks south, at 14400 Gulf Blvd, Pinellas County runs a separate 104-space lot with its own restrooms and showers and 450 feet of beach. It works differently — pay-by-plate at electronic stations, and the stations take credit cards only (Visa, Mastercard, Amex — no cash). Plenty of people wave at it on the way to Archibald without realizing it's public.
The walkovers people miss
This is the local knowledge. Besides the parks, the city lists public beach access points at the Gulf ends of 130th, 131st, 132nd, 133rd, 134th, 135th, 136th, 137th, 140th, 142nd, 147th, 148th, 149th, 154th and 155th Avenues.
Each is a simple dune walkover between the condos and cottages. The city maintains paid spaces at several of them — the parking map shows lots along Gulf Boulevard at 131st through 136th Avenues near John's Pass — while others are best reached on foot or by bike from where you're staying. Same sand, same water, a fraction of the people. If you're renting anywhere on the island, check which avenue-end walkover is closest before you assume you need to drive to a park at all.
One note for 2026: Tom & Kitty Stuart Park at 141st Avenue is only partially open — a handful of spaces — while the city rebuilds it after Hurricane Helene. As of March, the city was estimating at least six more months of work. Don't plan a beach day around it yet.
Parking at John's Pass
John's Pass is really two destinations. John's Pass Park, on the Gulf side, is a beach park: one walkover, restrooms, a shower, picnic shelter and metered spaces by the sand. John's Pass Village & Boardwalk, across Gulf Boulevard, is the shops-and-restaurants side, served by the Village Boulevard city spaces and a privately run parking garage priced above the city lots.
If your day is beach-first with a lunch walk across to the boardwalk, park on the park side. If it's shopping-first, expect the Village to be the most contested parking on the island — it's busy enough that the city has spent years debating how to add more.
The short version
Set up ParkMobile at home. Try Archibald first if you want restrooms and food; know the county's cards-only lot at 14400 Gulf Blvd is your backup two blocks south. And if you're staying on the island, skip the car entirely and use the avenue-end walkover nearest you — it's the version of Madeira Beach the parking lots never show you.
That last option works best when you're not hauling everything. We deliver chairs, umbrellas, coolers and wagons to where you're staying on the island, so the walk to your nearest walkover is just a walk. If the car stays parked all week, this post was mostly academic — which is the best outcome there is.
Rates and rules current as of August 2026. Madeira Beach changed both its rate and its payment system within the last two years and Kitty Stuart Park is still under restoration — the posted sign and the ParkMobile zone in front of you are always the final word.
